TimF: Hillaire…..eous!! Thanks Nick, lovely dedication to Nick, Nick!! Yep, the book arrived… I opened… it… I saw……… that it was many chapters….. [the sort of book I like because of my ADHD attention span]…. so could pick it up and read a couple of chapters…. er…. Well, not exactly…. it is a romp!! And a romp moves…. I picked it up to read at breakfast coffee on Sunday… and, apart from further cups of coffee…. cups of tea…… and finally….. verres du bieres….. and a bit of light exercise getting liquids and making room for same….I finished the book in one sitting…. ONE SITTING!! I haven’t read like that for years…. the only things that come near are Discworld books! Thank you!!!
JanN (32): Oh Nick, I started your book last night and I couldn’t stop laughing!!! It’s brilliant.
WilliamG (Dublin): For anyone who has visited France or lived there, especially the South-West, this hysterical, fast-paced page-turner is a must-read.
DamienE (Oxford): A brilliant read – highly recommended.
BernardG (Paris): Having lived with Angie Deirdre Justin and all during last month, I must say I have discovered a new facet of life in the Pyrenees especially in the Fritte/Trie region where it seems there is definitely no limit to fun, quacks, quickies and the like. I was embarked in a roller coaster of laugh, especially at the beginning (the mise en place of the characters is really good). I can easily see that this book encapsulates a life of various experiences in B and B management, experiences with customers, music gigs and tattooed ladies. And a strikingly awful mayor.
Any resemblance with existing characters and experiences is obviously voluntary and not coincidental…The only thing which comes to my mind after closing the book is “What a life…and that is only a week accounted for”.
Who knows the writer??? I definitely must speak to him!!! And meet the Sauerkraut band!
Merci pour ces moments
KatyM (London): I loved this book. Absolutely hilarious read. Shades of Tom Sharpe. Deliciously eccentric characters in ever more bizarre situations that can be found everywhere in the French countryside. So loopy you know it’s based on fact! Definitely recommend.
